He grew up in Abidjan but other places too such as; France (Paris) and also New York, where he completed his High School at Elmont high school. Since he grew up in different countries, he has been able to adapt and relate to different cultures and apply it to his music.
Detty K started his music career after his father shut down his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. His father has always wanted him to stay in school and made sure he finished his studies.
He used music as a getaway by writing and finding his own passion in music. As early as 13 years old, he started going to the studio to record, oftentimes stealing from his parents just so he could pay for studio time. Music has always been something that he loved and enjoyed doing especially in school; many people found him “cool” and he loved the attention that he was getting from the girls. However, he only really took his music career seriously in 2017, where he was 19 years old and officially moved to Dallas, Texas (where he resides now.) When moving to Dallas he released his first album called “the new wave” that included his single “so what”. “So what” was the single that brought more light to him and made him who he is as a music artist today in the African and American community.
As of right now Detty K has released two albums; his debut album called “the new wave” and his second album called “The Apocalypse”. Outside of these albums, Detty K has other songs with a few collaborations and features. He continues to thrive in the music industry by mixing his style of music with French and English that attracts francophones and English speakers as well.
